Mike Flanagan is once again teaming up with many of his favourite collaborators for his upcoming, still-untitled Exorcist movie. According to Deadline, 11 actors who have worked with Flanagan before are joining the cast: Rahul Kohli, Hamish Linklater, Gil Bellows, Carl Lumbly, Robert Longstreet, Matt Biedel, Samantha Sloyan, Kate Siegel, John Gallagher Jr., Benjamin Pajak, and Carla Gugino.
If you’ve followed Flanagan’s work, that list will probably look very familiar. Over the years, he’s built a go-to group of actors he regularly brings into his projects. Several of these actors appeared together in Flanagan’s Netflix series Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher. Others have popped up throughout his filmography in projects like Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald’s Game, The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor.
The project already had a strong cast lined up, including Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo, Sasha Calle, and Diane Lane.
As for the new film itself, details are still pretty tightly under wraps. What we do know is that it’s currently filming in New York City and will tell a brand-new story set in The Exorcist universe. It’s not a sequel to 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer (thankfully), but rather a fresh take within the same world.
