After years of false starts, World War Z 2 is finally back on the table, with Brad Pitt officially returning for the long-awaited zombie sequel.
According to Deadline, the follow-up will be directed by Edward Berger (The Riders), though plot details remain firmly under wraps.
The original World War Z was a troubled production, plagued by rewrites, creative shake-ups, and extensive reshoots that reportedly pushed its budget beyond $250 million. Despite that, it became a huge hit, earning over $540 million worldwide and leaving the door open for more adventures.
Max Brooks' novel famously explored a global zombie outbreak through interconnected stories from around the world, while the film followed Pitt's former UN investigator Gerry as he searched for his family amid the chaos.
A sequel has been teased for years, including David Fincher's canceled version in 2019. Whether Berger's film revives those plans or starts fresh remains to be seen.
