Smile 3 is officially happening! But the franchise is bringing in a fresh creative team. David Bruckner will direct the upcoming sequel, while Nick Antosca is set to write the screenplay. Franchise creator Parker Finn will stay involved as a producer while working on his next project, 'Possession'.
Finn, who wrote and directed the first two films, also developed the story framework for the third instalment. Although plot details remain under wraps, the sequel is expected to introduce another victim caught in the terrifying entity’s curse.
The first 'Smile', released in 2022, became a surprise smash hit, earning $217 million worldwide. Its 2024 sequel continued the franchise’s mix of supernatural scares and deeply personal horror.
Bruckner previously directed 'The Ritual', 'The Night House' and 'Hellraiser' (2022), while Antosca created series including 'Channel Zero'.
Finn’s 'Possession' is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 11, 2027.
